General Counseling

Issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, relational conflict, compulsive behavior, career indecision, are all issues that can hold you back from living the life you desire.

Life can be full of challenges, and pressures from work, relationships, or personal expectations can sometimes lead to stress, burnout, or even depression. If you are feeling overwhelmed, irritable, or relying on substances to cope with tough emotions, it is important to seek support. At Scout, we offer a safe and confidential space where clients can openly share their thoughts and feelings. Our goal is to provide the guidance, insight, and coping strategies needed to help you better understand yourself, make informed decisions, and improve your mental well-being. Whether you are navigating life changes, struggling with mental health and mood issues, facing career uncertainty, experiencing a major life change, or dealing with chronic health issues, we are here to work with you to develop the practical tools you need for a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Mood Issues

Anxiety and depression are among the most common reasons people seek mental health support. You might experience ongoing worry or nervousness about things that haven't occurred, or avoid conversations and situations that cause discomfort. You may feel an overwhelming sadness that leaves you feeling empty, or find it hard to carry out daily activities due to fatigue or trouble concentrating. Over time, both anxiety and depression can affect your relationships and overall quality of life. Seeking help is an important step toward managing these challenges and improving mental well-being.

At Scout, we provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your life and identify the roots of your challenges. Together, we’ll work to uncover ways to bring relief and create meaningful change moving forward. Our individual counseling integrates some of the most effective and widely recommended approaches for treating anxiety and depression, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and relaxation techniques. Additionally, we can help you explore how your unique personality such as your Enneagram or Myers-Briggs Type might influence how you experience and navigate life.

Chronic Health ISsues

If you are struggling to make it through each day due to crippling pain or have been diagnosed with cancer, an autoimmune disorder, or chronic headaches, then day to day life can be difficult to manage physically and mentally. A new branch of science called psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) implicates chronic life stressors and the suppression of emotions as factors linked to debilitating diseases. Anyone experiencing physiological or psychological illness is aware that stress levels are at an all-time high in our society.

At Scout, we seek to move you toward healing by exploring your life stressors and suppressed emotions. By teaching you emotional competence, we aim to provide you with the capacity to feel challenging emotions, be aware when you are experiencing stress, and learn skills to effectively communicate your emotions to others with appropriate assertiveness while maintaining the integrity of your emotional boundaries. We use Dialectal Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as trauma informed modalities to gently guide you in exploring emotional wounds from the past so you can move into living a life that feels congruent to the real you, a life with joy, meaning, and purpose.
