Premartial Counseling
Entering into marriage can be one of the most exciting times of life, as well as one of the most stressful.
It is possible to focus a great deal of energy into your wedding ceremony and not as much time into the relationship knowledge and skill that is required to maintain a lasting relationship.
In premarital counseling, you will be given the opportunity to complete an assessment of your relationship and to process, with your future spouse, various areas of your relationship including communication, conflict resolution, expectations, finances, roles, dating, in-laws, children, friends, sex, and spirituality. You will have the opportunity to have many of your marriage questions answered and address the issues that commonly lead to divorce before those issues have firmly rooted in your relationship.
The premarital counseling process begins with an assessment provided by PREPARE/ENRICH to guide our sessions. After an initial meeting, the assessment is given and subsequent sessions are scheduled. Typically, the premarital process at Scout is a 7 to 8 session process of evaluating your relationship and giving you the skills necessary for a healthy marriage. Fees for premarital are preset as one cost and certain participants, upon successful completion of the premarital process, may be eligible for a discount on a marriage license with their state or governing agency. In order to begin your premarital process, please contact us 90 days prior to your scheduled wedding date to provide adequate time for the process.
